Details

The Palm Island Community Company Bwgcolman Youth Services vision is to instil and create an opportunity for the youth of Palm Island to become the future leaders of their community, to be able to provide a discussion around positive change and to pave the way for the next generation. The Palm Island Community Company Youth Services, finds inspiration from the youth on the island, witnessing the unity and strength they have for each other, when coming together to show support, as the youth share the same journey if not similar, by experiencing the oppressions that come with systemic racism, literacy and numeracy problems, overcrowding in their households, domestic and family violence, abuse, neglect, incarceration and removal and placed in out-home-care/residentials. PICC Bwgcolman Youth Services believe, by providing an opportunity for the youth of Palm Island to allow their voices to be heard and being the narrators and the creators of their own journey, is powerful within itself, and PICC Bwgcolman Youth Services is providing the foundation to support this great change and is very empowering to witness and to be a part of. Working with all PICC services enables our service to provide the correct supports to stop recidivism, introduce return to school programs, youths to remain in their community, obtain traineeships and employment, have continued health checks to reduce chronic illnesses. We believe by providing the continued supports, we are building a great future for the youth of Palm Island.
